Child protection training requirements - Queensland government protocol

Queensland established a government protocol outlining the child protection training requirements for compliance with National Law section 162A. The approved provider of an education and care service must ensure that nominated supervisors, persons in day-to-day charge and family day care coordinators complete a child protection course*.

*Evidence of completion of one of the following units will satisfy compliance with s162A: CHCPRT025 Identify and report children and young people at risk OR one of these superseded units: CHCPRT001, CHCPRT026, CHCPRT002 OR CHCECE057

The approved courses are nationally recognised units of competency and must be delivered by a registered training organisation (RTO). Completion may be either stand-alone or as part of a qualification. In-house training is not sufficient. The protocol took effect from 1 April 2025.

Do you and your nominated supervisors need to complete the current unit CHCPRT025 Identify and report children and young people at risk?
